Can thrush cause a diaper rash?

Okk my little girl is 18 days old with trush and has a diaper rash ive switched daipers,wipes.... everyting possible and its not going away. my mom told me that it could be caused from the trush is this true... and if so how long will it take to go away... And yes i have been using the penatin and it doesnt help what so ever

  1. Yes, when my daughter had thrush, she also had a diaper rash.  The doctor gave me a prescription cream to treat the rash.  You may need to get one for your daughter.  Sometimes Desitin will clear up the yeast-y rashes too, though, if you want to try that.


  2. Absolutely...thrush is just a "yeast infection" in the mouth. My 18 month old daughter developed a yeast infection while having thrush. The best thing to do is call the doctor. Mine always prescribed Nystatin, which works great. It comes in oral and topical form. The best way to tell the difference between regular diaper rash and a yeast infection is the appearance. Diaper rash is usually splotchy and red. A yeast infection, per se, usually looks like little dots around the area often with what looks like little whiteheads. I hope this helps!

  3. Yes! Thrush often causes diaper rashes.

    You can try clotromazole cream (that's what my children's doc. recommended). It worked for us!
