  1. I know that one of the side effects of EffexorXR is that it can disturb sleep.  I know at least one other person who reported that they thought their dreams were strange when they took Effexor, so it is a possibility.  I don't know how long it has been since it has been increased, but if it has been over two weeks and you are still having a problem, you should call your physician.  You could also try avoiding caffeine and any other behaviors that are stimulating or agitating.  These factors can also interact with the Effexor and serve as grist for the mill.

I suggest reading my Yahoo blog and just ask yourself if you are doing everything you can to reduce stress and agitation - just a suggestion and shot in the dark.  But, if the Effexor increase is not working for you, call your doctor.  I have seen many people have a problem with an increase after a certain level. http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-IeUS6eQye...

  2. I have experienced nightmares but not when on Effexor but when I wanted to get off it.. terrible nightmares then.. but of course you develop a tolerance to a drug.. so to achieve the same result..  the doctor will increase the dosage.. Maybe you should ask your doctor if there is no better medication .. I experienced weight gain and really tiredness so that I can't exercise..  plus I find it affects the libido. the s*x drive.. quite a lot.. there are different side effects for different people.. x*x but it's true for all drugs of that kind.. you develop a phyiscal and mental tolerance and then the body craves for more otherwise they won't work properly anymore.. but you should mention those nighmares to the doctor.. I only ever got them .. when i tried to withdraw from the medication.. x*x
