I live in Iowa, where tornadoes are pretty common (well, not common, but more than other states) and yes, they can occur anytime of the year, including August.

Yes, tornadoes can definitely form in August. Spring and summer are the best seasons for tornado development. Also, tornadoes can form at any other time of the year if the conditions are right.
