the drs at my local health dept. hand out tramadol like it is candy. the more research I do on the computer the more I find it is VERY addicting and should only be used short term.

Tramadol is used for lowering inflamation, pain reduction, migraines and seizures - that I know of.  I know people who have been on it for all those things.

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, or weakness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

As far as I know it's fairly benign drug for it's class - any drug that helps with migraines or seizures is a "mind altering drug" and can have severe side effects, but it's a lot more safe than others.

You should not take it if breast feeding or pregnant, though -it doesn't even say to talk about the pros and cons with your doc - it just says don't take it.

didn't do anything for my arthritis and as far as I could tell no side effects

Well all medications can cause problems, over a time they can cause what we call IATROGENIC illlnesses, these are illnnesses caused by taking medications. For instance  prolonged steroid use can cause brittle bones or diabetes

Tramadol is morphine based so breaks down and stays in the liver. All analgesics tend to cause constipationso if you need to take a strong one like Tramadol then you need to take plenty of water throughout the day, annd keep to a good balanced diet.

i dont really know ,but i take Tramadol and it gives me a headache well a fuzzy head on waking in a morning
