I was thinking that what if people planted trees on mars, and gave them care. Could trees survive? I know they need carbon dioxide to live.

  1. No, no not even. Mars...has no oxygen, trees and plants need oxygen!

  2. No.  The temperature is far too low.  Trees require CO2 and while Mars possesses that gas, the amount is insufficient.  Mars has frequent dust storms that block off light, and would bury any possible vegetation. The soil has no nutrients, and the planet has no magnetic field so the solar radiation would be deadly.  Other than these minor factors, trees would be a wonderful idea.

  3. as of right now, no...the temperature is typically minus70 farenheit...in the past, yes...100%, i wouldnt be suprised if some of the major species of plant and animal life here on earth actually came from mars...

  4. Maybe if the trees had space suits and nice warm root warmers then they might grow but i would doubt it.

  5. I dunno, why don't you go fly up there and plant one yourself.
