Can tums cause blood stool?

i took them first time and this happened.is it serius?

  2. No, they shouldn't.

    Taking something with bismuth (like Pepto) in it can cause dark stools that may look like they have blood in it.

    However, what did you take the Tums for? If you ever having stomach pain, I would be concerned that the blood is from whatever was/is causing the pain, not the actual Tums.

    If it happens again though, I would go to the doctor.

  3. bloody stools always suggest infection of your bowls. It could be colitis which is an infection in your colon, or even diverticulitis which is more serious. I would definatley see your GP because a lot of infections can cause parts of your intestines to swell and burst like apendicitis.
