Okay, my annoying brother is always nagging me to get offline, he has a mac, and I have a PC, is there anyway we can both be online at the same time? I have a bellsouth Westell modem with both USB and Ethernet ports. He has a MAC.OS and I have a PC Windows XP. I also have a ethernet splitter. It's a Netgear Fast Ethernet Switch. Is there anyway I can hook up both computers to the internet with what I have?

  1. Best solution is to get a router.  It will handle everything for you. Just attach the 2 computers and go.

  2. yes you need to open the nat

  3. An ethernet splitter (hub) requires two separate IP addresses.

The best way is to get a router, you do not need a wireless one, as they have ethernet plugs for four separate computers. Just run ethernet cables from your two computers to the router, then plug the router to your modem. This way you could have up to four different computers connected to the internet at any given time.

  4. The best way that I know is for one of you to get a wireless router and the other to get a wireless card.

I run several computers at home at the same time.
