  1. go to the eye doc and ask him about systane

  2. Visine is bad, BAD stuff to put in dry eyes! All eyes, but ESPECIALLY if your eye is prone to dryness. It contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative, which is just as effective at killing germs as it is at killing your corneas and damaging your tear film. This is NOT stuff you want to be frequently putting in your eyes.

Try 'zaditor' for your allergy eyes instead. Yes, it contains BAK. But you only dose once a day, reducing the risk of damage. For the dryness, do NOT use visine! Use refresh, bion tears, systane, or any other eye drop that is in PRESERVATIVE FREE single-use vials. All drug stores will sell them.

Generally, you should dose eye drops 10-15 minutes apart. I personally would suggest an application of a preservative free lubricant 15 minutes before applying the allergy drop.

As always, talk to your doctor about your options, especially regarding prescription allergy treatments and/or recommended perservative-free drops.
