Can two hamsters live together?

i have had my hamster awhile and she seems to be getting kind of lonley. that leads to my question

no definately not. i tried and it didnt work, theyre too violent. go to a pets store they will tell you. spoil it with toys i guess.. :]

Not only can they live together, but in California, Massachusetts and Vermont, they can get married.

no. do not get another hamster to put with your current one just because you think it is lonely. hamsters are very territorial. they will fight to the death if they are in each other's territory. one of my hamsters died from a fight, and since then, i've separated all my hamsters.

It depends on the type, but most likely, no.

Syrians nearly NEVER get along with another.  I've heard of  1 case, but that was it.  (And they didn't live together, just had playtime together, NOT something I recommend either.)

Dwarves will typically get along with a littermate (Though, not always) but if your hamster is over 4 months old, she's hit maturity and likely won't.

Instead of potentially getting one or both hurt during introductions, maybe if she's acting lonely you could just spend some extra time with her?

Hey :)

Sorry but unless they are both dwarf hamsters and they are from the same home and are bought together you cannot have 2 hamsters living together. If you introduced another one they would probably fight as they were not born together and if they are not dwarf hamsters they can fight to death. If you would like 2 hamsters living together i suggest roborovski dwarf hamsters :) Keep your hamster happy by playing with her often and giving her lots of toys and a run about. well, if you get two girls, then they will fight, but then they'll get used to each other. if you get two boys, they will fight for the king of the cage. if you had a girl and get a boy, they will fight, because the boy wants to rule, but the girl was there longer.

so, usually, get two girl dwarf hamsters. sure, they'll fight, but all hamsters fight and need to get used to each other.

if she is getting lonely that much, then you need to hold her, and take care of her a lot more. i only have one girl dwarf hamster, and i take care of her and shes fine!

id say, take care of her and hold her for 10-15 minutes a day for one more week, and if she's still lonely, get another girl hamster!!!

well what type of hamster do you have?? syrians only live 1 per cage (alone) and if you have a dwarf then it will be harder to introduce it to your hamster i would'nt try it. Try taking her or him out of it's cage and play. Get her some toys for it's cage.A play pen is also good cuz you don't have to wory about your hamster hiding under something.

Absulutly ,  But you have to have 2 of every thing so they won't fight over a certain thing......    The one above me probally didn't do that...
