Pretend a friend and I wanted to invest 60,000 in Berkshire hathaway for one share and we sign a contract that the stock is owned by both of us will this work? Would we own part of the company?

  1. In the extreme case of Berkshire Hathaway, pooling your money and creating a joint venture for one $120,000 share is going to be more trouble than it's worth. Berkshire's "B" stock is only $4000 today, and tracks very closely to the "A" stock in terms of performance.

  2. It seems kind of silly when you can buy the class b shares for around 4k/sh.

  3. Just open up a brokerage account in joint name. Then you each own whatever is in the account.
