Can two storms from two different sides [west/east] meet at the same point?

Is this possible? Need to know for a novel I'm writing.

  1. I doubt it.  I'm no meteorologist or anything, but weather systems typically travel from west to east.  I think the chances of a storm moving east and one moving west would best be saved for science fiction.
