Can two syrian hamsters ever be kept together?

My syrian hamster had pups 5 days ago (she was pregnant when I got her and I didn't know it). I think there are 4, but I don't know for sure since I can't touch them. We love the mama and definitely want to keep her. If one of the pups is a female, can we keep it with the mama?

  1. No, it's not a good idea.  Syrians are very independent and solitary by nature.  Chances are when the pup matures into an adult there will be fighting between them.  Breeders have stated that they can remain together but I would not take the chance.

  2. No. Because some hamster eat their sons and daughters and hamsters are solitary and will kill each other for dominance. You can keep the babies with each other for a little bit, but in about a month they'll start to fight.

  3. no u can't in 4 weeks u have to put it to a new cage if u don't the mom will kill or fight with it wen it grow up trust me i did the same thing and the mom got mad so don't do it.

  4. Syrians are solitary & should never be kept together!!

  5. No you shouldn't keep a pup with the mom (as cruel as that sounds, it really isn't) The only possible combination I would suggest is two brothers can be kept together, if they are never separated, and seem to be pretty bonded and cool towards one another. Otherwise, putting a 'daughter' in with it's mom is like putting a random hamster in with it.

Overall though, I wouldn't suggest putting any Syrian hamsters together in one cage. It's not really a good idea.
