Can u be arested for not doing Jury Duty?

I have a little problem,I was summoned for Jury Service and there is NO WAY I can do that.I have Social Anxiety Disorder and I have already tryed to get out of it,but I need a statement from my dr but I'm having a hard time getting that because I'm not an active client at the Mental Health.I have already gave my info to mental health to start services again,but its gonna take a week for someone to call me to set up an appointment,and then a month after that to get in,but I need the statement in 2 weeks.This is really stressing me out,I know I can't do the Jury Service but I'm starting to think I'm out of luck.They said they would send me a card saying what day to appear and what time,what would happen if I just didnt show up?would they issue a warent for my arest?

just tell them that you dont belive in the the court system..if he wasnt in jail. he woudnt be guilty,,,

They could. In California they issue you a summons and if you don't show up the fine you $2000.

Just show up or get a doctor to write a letter for you and you can show it to the jury coordinator.

what you need to do is call the court ASAP and explain your situation to them. they will more than likely remove you from the list. my father has done this after his  heart problem.

There is a very good chance that a warrant would be issued for your arrest if you do not respond to a summons.

Just wear a white sheet and a hood. If they think you're KKK or bigoted, you will be kicked out. Case close.

depends on the state you live in , ive never done jury duty but have been called many times. but if they wont make allowances for smokers I'm not going. and Ive never had a problem not showing up or contacting them over 22 years of not showing up. and that was in 3 different states

not saying that's the right answer for everyone but it works for me.

Here in California you can get a postponement of your service.  This would give you the time to get the documentation you need.  Perhaps your municipality has a similar way of doing business.  I would recommend checking with the office that issued your summons to jury duty and inquire.  And yes you can be arrested.  A bench warrant would be issued so hurry and check with the office.

you have a good reason for not going but if you can't get a doctors' note then I'm not sure. if you don't go they will put out a warrant but they would not have a case in court. if you want to avoid court then maybe there is another Doctor that can get you in sooner. the most they can do is make you sit in jail until the court date but you will win the case because you were trying. just make sure that you get a statement form the Doctor stating that you have an appointment and the one you have is the earliest that they could get you in. good luck!

Yes.  Refusing to show for jury duty can result in a warrant for you to appear in court.

You need to call the number on the summons and explain your situation.  You may be required to appear in person to explain to the judge.

Tight situation and I don't have "The" answer? You may have to attend and show them first hand how nervous you are, then they could replace you?

If you are shaky about this then try to think of how the defendant and victim are?

Don't try it.  At the least, send a letter or call stating this fact and that you will get proof as soon as you can.  If you don't, the government can place a lien on your home or taxes, etc, without a trial.  However, writing a letter stating that you will have this proof within a few weeks should be fine.  Because, that's all you can do, you are trying your best, so no charges can be taken against you.

you can and more than likely be arrested if you don't report in. once there let the judge know what your problems is and you will probably be excused and also just because your name was drawn for jury duty it does not mean you will be seated, its just a list to draw from

It is possible to be arrested for failing to serve. It is unlikely.

If you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so just call the court, or write, and tell them.
