Can u bring beef jerky on a flight to another state?

we were about to take a trip to colorado from california and i was wondering if u r allowed to bring an un open bag of beef jerky on a flight in ur carry on.

but that might go against homeland security. it might explode, i guess.

Yes, of course.  But, you may have to purchase it after you go through TSA screening.
