  1. I always thought you needed an International licence from Australia to drive abroad before you get there. You'd better check with the RTA.

  2. Okay - I used to work at VicRoads. There's no such thing as an international drivers licence on which you can drive. You use your licence with the 'international driver's licence' - which is just a translation of your licence into another language. These can be obtained through the RACV. If you're going somewhere where English is a main language, you don't need one. We actually went to Italy and hired cars - you name it on the Aussie licence.

PS a licence is a licence whether it's a P or a full licence. You just have to check with the country you're travelling to if you need to put plates up - doubt it though.

  3. I'm pretty sure you need to have a full license to drive in any other country.

Besides, you need to be 21, so, if you aren't, you won't be able to drive, even if your license IS full.

  4. Yes you can drive in Europe with an Aussie drivers licence!!

I have driven in Britain, France, Italy, Spain. I have been pulled over by their police too and they never said anything about it. When I first drove in France I was a bit spooked as they drive on the other side of the road, never quite got used to it.

You don't need to do a test or anything.

You can also hire a car with an Aussie licence too.

P's are fine, as long as you are not on your L's.

  5. Ask the NRMA or RACQ. You may be able to get an International Permit for a fee.

  6. As far as I know you need an international driving permit to drive overseas. try this: http://www.racq.com.au/motoring/internat...

  7. i think the point of the question which most people have missed is the "can i drive on my P's" part.

sorry you can't you have to have a black licence to drive O/S.

    :)

good luck though! sounds like fun!
