Can u get a replacement retainer after your teeth have moved?

Basically I had a brace til i was 16 (im 22 now). I lost my retainer after about a year or 2 and didnt worry because my orthodontist told me it was extremely unlikely they wil move back (i now know thats a load of bull).

Anyway the prob with my teeth was that just one of my front teeth was twisted. i had 2 teeth out for it and gradually over the years my tooth has began to twist again a little, not to the severity it was but a little. will a retainer prevent anymore moving? since i had teeth out and overcrowding was causing the twist, will it not move back to the severity?

how much would a replacement retainer be? PLEASE ANSWER!! Thankyouuuu :)

  1. I had a retainer one time that wouldn't fit anymore and my Orthodontist didn't charge extra to make me a new one.  They made a new impression of my teeth and just like the first one when I got the retainer it fit tight and it did help move a tooth back where it should be.

Just don't tell them that you lost the retainer a long time ago...just leave that part out and they may not charge you....they didn't for me.

    Good luck!

  2. A new retainer will retain what you have now, but it probably won't make corrections.

The doctor will have to make a new mold of you teeth and I bet the total cost of the visit, mold, fitting, and appliance will cost you around 500.

  3. my brother didn't wear his retainer like he was supposed to, now the only way he can get them fixed is by getting his braces back on.
