  1. There are many health care positions which are available at community colleges.  Over 50% of the RN programs in the US are associate degree programs.  The average RN in the US makes over $56,000 per year.  The most popular Radiology Technician programs in the US are 2 year associate degrees and they average around $45,000 per year in the US.  These are but 2 examples of many excellent health care fields.

The associate degrees which would not be as beneficial would be such as an associate degree as a medical assistant.  While this might pay well in one city, in most major cities the field is over saturated and in some areas they may barely make more than minimum wage, if they can find a job.  Some schools offer an associate degree as an LPN, though you can become an RN and make an average of $20,000 a year more in the US for a similar amount of time in school.

Many of the associate degree programs, such as RN, and Radiology Technicians have additional coursework which can be taken later which would provide the bachelors degree.  RNs often go on for masters and/or doctorate degrees.

As I said, there are many good programs available.  However, you should look into the actual job market and salaries in the area you wish to live, before making any decision.  In some areas RNs with a bachelors degree make more money, and in others they are paid exactly the same salary.  Some hospitals ( though it is not common) have all bachelor degree staff, though most do not have this policy, and will pay tuition assistance for staff members to advance their education.
