  1. There's no real trick to losing weight...it's just hard to stick to a diet. Basically, you want to burn more calories than you consume. Cut out sugar and bad carbs. Focus on eating whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Exercising is also a plus and will give you energy. You might be deterred the first few days, maybe even the first week, but keep at it. It works and you will look and feel fabulous!

  2. I lost 80 lbs in under a year and this is what I did:

I avoided all sugar: no bread, potatos, rice, pasta, carrots (root vegetables basically), most fruit (some berries are OK casue they are lower in sugar but don't eat many at one time), fruit juice, beans, etc. basically, limit anything high in starches and sugars. If you want to take longer to lose weight, then eat only the starches that take longer to break down in your stomach like beans or the oatmeal you boil for half an hour, but NOT the instant kind. Also, NO cereals; they all turn to sugar fairly fast because they are processed (real oats don't come in little flakes that look cute on your plate).

Then eat: fish, chicken, pork, all grilled, boiled, or baked but don't fry in a lot of butter. Use olive oil but not vegetable or canola oils. Butter is OK but don't overdo it, and the less dairy you can manage the better. Don't do what many people say gives low carb a bad name, namely, don't eat all kinds of red meat and bacon and high fat cheeses, etc. Stay to lean meats and not too much grease/fat.

Also eat vegetables that aren't high in sugar: salad, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, etc. and again no starchy veggies.

It sucks and it's NOT easy. Take potassium if you have leg cramps, because unless you like a lot of spinach, you will need potassium.

The beginning will be tough! You will feel like you are not satisfied after you eat, you will feel like you don't want to see another boiled egg, and you won't want any more chicken, etc. but it will work. You put on weight b/c you ate a lot of sugar, which gives you energy, but you didn't use up all th energy right away so it got stored as fat... now you need to stop eating the sugar and let your body transition into burning the fat as fuel instead of the carbs, but you can't go up and down and eat sugar, then not eat it, etc. You need to stick it out and stay on low sugar for a long time for your body to melt the fat off. Also, try to do cardio and weights. The more weights you lift, the more muscle you build, and the more fat you burn when you're not even doing anything.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day such as boiled eggs in the morning, some almods or other nuts for a snack (not the super salty and roasted kind, sorry), then a salad with chicken or turkey for lunch, then another snack like a boiled egg or some crunchy veggies then dinner with fish and steamed veggies.

Also you will gain more energy later even if you feel weak the first week or so... once your body goes into burning fat and not carbs you will have more energy and be much more "crisp" and "clear". You won't get sleepy after you eat and get in a funk. But it's tough to stick to and you need a lot of self discipline and determination!

Also, don't let people tell you to do low fat or low calorie and tell you low carb is dangerous. It's not and it works and like I said, I lost 80 lbs and my blood sugar is stable and not spiking with lots of sugar and then tanking with too much insulin (insulin makes your body store the fat). So don't raise your blood sugar, and you won't make too much insulin.

  3. hmm. I've been on a diet plan since school ended and i lost about 15 pounds in about two and a half months. i'm 15, 5'2 and a 111 lbs now.

what i do is eat about 1000 to 1200 calories a day which my friends and parents think is unhealthy but yeah.. i eat a A LOT of fruits since i dont like vegetables that much but i love to eat salad. i dont eat fried foods and too much sugar except on saturday which is my pig out day even though i try not to eat too much. i snack on plain yogurt with fruits that i add in like strawberries. monday to friday i run the treadmill for about ten minutes which is a little over a mile for me then speedwalk for three minutes OR i speedwalk uphill for about half an hour at 3.5 miles per hour. then when it gets cooler at around 7 pm, i walk my dog for an hour to an hour and a half. and yeah.. its working for me and i'm still working at losing five more pounds.

    hope this helps ;)
