warming...?

what do they do to cause hazard to the atmosphere.

I know that carbon dioxide emmits the most hazard (from power plants, cars, buildings, airplanes, etc) to the atmosphere..

  1. When light passes by some atoms and particularly molecules, the light may be bent, reflected, or absorbed and then re-emitted.

What are described as Greenhouse gases all have one or another or those effects.

Light that has a long wavelength, including infra-red light, tends to be much more readily bent in its course than is short wavelength light.

You will see this at sunset, the red light is bent by the humid atmosphere making it curve around the  edge of the earth. Some molecules do a better job of bending or reflecting

If you place even a thin plastic film over a space, that thin plastic film will cause the space below it to heat up a lot. But the molecules do not have to be all aligned inside a film to make that happen.

  2. methane and nitrous oxide are both greenhouse gasses so higher concentrations of them in the atmosphere will lead to more warming.

CO2 is probably the safest of the three gasses because the other 2 cause many other problems but because there is so much more of it being released it is a much larger problem.
