  1. You'll have a life vest on and can always go out with an instructor for safety.

  2. yeah of course! wear a life vest just in case your canoe turned upside down...then call for help!!

  3. i wouldnt try it if i was you. your canoe may  flip but if u do decide to wear a life vest

  4. no because when u get in trouble like when your canue has a hole in it u might die!

  5. i would say that is inadvisable.

  6. Not recommended generally speaking.

Canoes are safe usually, but are prone to tipping in the wrong conditions.  Consider this:

Are the people you are going with mature and reliable?

Will they likely fiddle around and tip the canoe over?

Are they experienced canoe-ers and swimmers?

Does anyone really know first aid?

    Will you have life jackets?

Is this in a stream, or in a lake or pond?

Think about it- if you fall out you could die.  In moving water, the likelihood goes up.  So it does if immature people are in your boat.  Don't do it without a life jacket sized correctly for you.  Chances are if you're nervous you shouldn't go out.

  7. life vest

  8. It might depend on where your canoeing. If it is just in a lake or slow moving water I would say sure just make sure you keep your lifejacket on. But it's kindof silly to not be able swim. You don't need lessons either, just a friend who is willing to spend a couple hours with you.

  9. uh yeah.!

  10. As long as you have a life jacket, or are really tall.

  11. It would be a lot more safer if you knew how to swim. If you are canoeing for a club or an organization they may require you to have the ability to swim. If you are just going with friends you should definitely wear a life jacket (especially if you go alone!!), just in case. You never know what could happen.

  12. I have gone canoeing before, and I'm not a good swimmer at all. If you going on a river that's fairly easy to canoe, I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure you have a life vest on or right by you and I would also suggest having someone in your canoe who is experienced.

  13. you need to at least be able to float with a lifejacket. but being able to swim is a plus

  14. yes you can just wear a life jacket and try to practice at least even floating before you go canoeing, and if you are going with your friends try to be with someone who knows how to swim

  15. lifejacket...learn to swim though, very easy.

  16. would you like to die?

  17. They call it a life jacket

  18. Sure, but you have to wear a life preserver, suitably sized, from the time you step into the canoe until you step out onto firm ground, dock, etc.

You obviously know nothing about canoing, therefore should only go in company with expert canoers.

Canoes are notoriously unstable, some designs more than others. And there are many designs, each for a different purpose. You would do well to go to the library and read as many books on canoing as you can.

If you persist I wish you many years of safe fun.
