  1. yea,u should get it trained 2 dont act like its outdoors.but u should train it 2 dont swing from things

  2. You can, but you probably shouldn't. Some states don't allow it and  some species are prohibited. Monkeys aren't as much fun as they seem and require tons of work. They'll also play with and destroy pretty much anything in the house. If you like monkeys, go see them at the zoo.

  3. dont adopt a monkey. i wantched a dateline on it, and it talks about how in order for them to be adopted they have to tranquilize the mother and take the baby away while it fights back. and then it will be attached to you for months, because it misses its mom. its better to leave the monkey in its natural habitat. and one day, it will attack you. it will. for no reason. seriously, dont do it.

  4. Yes, you can - But they are VERY destructive and can be quite a handful. If you want a cool pet - get a Wallaby. They are like miniature Kangaroos - and they are very good entertainers ... I heard that they will even stash their favourite toys and treats in their pouches!!

  5. You can, But im pretty sure you cant have it in your house...Here is what you can do...Go to your local ZOO and ask the monkey keeper --( if there is one )-- and ask him if you can ADOPT a monkey and if you can you will have to pay the ZOO KEEPER and ZOO to have it there and take care of it.Or is somehow you can get a MONKEY from the zoo or somewhere ELSE you could keep it home but i would keep it at the zoo..

  6. Legality of primate ownership depends on where you live. About 19 states have total bans. The rest either require a permit, ban apes, or have no regulation at all. BUT ownership can be regulated by any level of government (except in FL where FL Fish & Wildlife has sole jurisdiction over wildlife). So you must also check you county/city laws regarding ownership. A good place to start is your states Fish & Game or wildlife department. (www.petmonkeyinfo.com/laws.html for an overview of US laws)

Monkeys are a FULL TIME commitment. Keeping a primate in a captive environment is possible, and can be a very rewarding experience when entered into under the right circumstances. Monkeys takes constant dedication. Most people are not willing to do the work required. The baby stage is very short lived as most monkeys mature at 2-3 years, and have life spans ranging from 25-45+ years. You have to be certain you want to dedicate practically the rest of your life to your monkey. NO more vacations, or weekend getaways, because who will take care of your monkey? They are very clean animals themselves, but are very messy eating etc, and require their cages to be cleaned often. Primates require 24 hour companionship, specialized diets, large enclosures for exercise, and enrichment to remain happy. Owners need to understand primate behavior/temperament, and how to properly handle them. They can NOT be left alone all day while you are at work unless they have mate. The enclosures that house them, especially capuchins and larger, need to be strong and secured with locks to prevent escape. They are VERY smart animals. RESEARCH is a must.

  7. No no no and NO!  Even if it is legal in your area, it is not something you want to do.  Monkeys can be cute and almost human like, but they are not pets.  They are wild animals.

Having a monkey as a pet is not what most people expect it to be.  You may expect changing diapers like a child, but you don't expect the distruction they can cause.  Because these animals are so intelligent, they require CONSTANT stimulation.  Everyday they need a novel enrichment or they will get bored and either display repetitive movements or self-injurous behavior.  Often, a vet will need to be called if the wound requires stitches.  Good luck finding an exotic animal vet on call 24/7.

Taking care of a monkey is a full time job that can last 20-40 years.  It is not cheap.  Monkeys destroy toys on a regular basis, but they need to be replaced in order to keep them occupied.  Not to mention food and a place to keep them.

Many times people who have bought monkeys as pets (usually over the internet) realize the enoumous mistake they've made sooner or later.  Not only are you complicating your own life, you are taking a monkey away from it's environment (be that the wild, a zoo, or a sanctuary) where it can be cared for properly and putting it in a situation it should never be faced with.

Also, monkeys can carry diseases that are deadly to humans.  I know of at least 20 people who have died over the years because they didn't know that something such as a urine splash to the face from an old world monkey could kill them.  Any bodily fluid (saliva, urine, blood etc) that comes in contact with a mucous membrane is an exposure.  And by the way, most doctors don't know that you need to be treated with an antiviral if you have such an exposure.  They'll treat you for any wounds (if it's a bite or a scratch) and tell you to go home.

So, as you can probably tell, my answer is most definitely NO you can not have a monkey as a pet.  I hope you take my advice.
