  1. Not everyone agrees that the causes of global warming are known.  You may have a strong belief in AGW or you may think it's ridiculously hyped or you may be somewhere in between.  You can't assume your readers know what's going on in your head.

Do you believe that humans are determined to solve the issue?  Most politicians seem inclined to wait and see before making any major policy changes.

It's not clear what you are trying to communicate with "In spite of the causes".  If humans caused the problem wouldn't we feel compelled to do something about it?  If it is natural, why should we feel responsible for a natural phenomenon?

  2. I agree with the 1st(Sarah) 100%  but.....,

I really don't care at all, but as long as you keep "in spite of the cause" or "whatever the causes", it sounds like a good opening paragraph.

I hope you don't think your government should pour billions of $'s into this "problem", as "scientists" call it.

    Good luck!

Wait,wait....now I read it right. The causes and solution IS your opening statement.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO scientific or any other type of attainable evidence that supports your claims..........

1)humans are making the earth warmer.(the earths temperature has fluctuated consinstantly throughout time)*

    2) That we can stop or reverse this, possibly very natural, cycle that earth finds itself in. Where is the evidence for either of these two things.

THAT is going to be your thesis. You got your work cut out for ya'!

Sure , your liberal professors will eat it up, but don't fool yourself. The evidence is just not there , just paranoid projection, at best.

Science works to proove it's theories WRONG as well, that is how they can rule out false hypothesis. Global warming "science" ONLY shows you the stuff that helps make their case seem more likely. NOT SCIENCE. Agenda driven Propaganda, I'd say, at least by the way they throw it at people as science, Disingenuous, at best.

I am not saying I am against Global Warming. I just strongly resent this "scientific projection" being confused with real science.

Yes, certain things(such as fossil fuels increase greenhouse gases.(& other things,as well) But it is a BIG leap and huge projection to simply conclude the reason for the earths temp. was JUST that.

Where is the science that trys to introduce OTHER factors which may have contributed.

I am tired of having tjis shoved down my throat, and them telling me " It is scientifically proven". That simply, is not True.

IT may be true( that G.W. exists), but their approach to make you believe it is elitist, bullying, and pushy in their technique for MAKING/FOOLING people into believing it IS proven. It is propagandistic bullying to the point, where people who buy in-nefficient cars, are ostrisized!

THAT is fascist. Not just flag-waving and whatever GWB does!

  4. Global warming is not human caused. It is just climate change.

The saharah desert used to be a fertile valley 100000 years ago. There were no humans back then, were there?

    I rest my chase.

  5. Sounds as if your teacher is as confused as you are .and now you are confusing me

I am afraid that in spite of Global Warming Happening humans are not doing enough, and too many poor humans, are in no position to think green because their immediate concerns are survival

Global Warming is true, there are Natural fazes but we are affecting that to a great extent ,with deforestation ,desertification and pollution., especially air pollution.

A few weeks ago one of NASA's top scientists concluded that the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free within five years, much faster than all previous predictions.

when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home ,

Calculations do not include the accumulative ,speeding up ,factor with time. the increase in water temperature will get faster all the time as well as the melting, when the ice is all gone the deeper cold Ocean currents will be affected ,,also changing the higher warm currents,

This will affect coastal climates ,world wide ,almost instantly. All aquatic flora and fauna will be affected, many dying off and others becoming invasive,

Recently In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests, this had never happened before. Millions of animals died.

In India 3000 people died because of super storms .

.A few years ago in Europe 3500 people, died during a heat wave ,many of them in France .

Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming

. these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon.

In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert.

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing .

The biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying ,

This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains ,

All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna, And since we are on the top of the food chain ,

we are always the last to know.

So Global warming has its toll there are incidents all over the world ,

    However

confusion rules the day ,i am beginning to think that SCIENCE HAS BEEN INVADED WITH POLITICS AND HUMAN EMOTIONS

The truth is being distorted at high levels,

And lies have been weaved in.

Some of the real dangers are being hidden because there are no solutions , Public could panic.and Authorities would loose control .

Besides Corporations have other priorities and changes will cause loss of profits ,this also affects the truths being published

Others facts are exaggerated so that the phenomena can be used to milk the people.

This is further complicated with Arrogance that will not admit that mankind could be guilty, or that Gods could be out of control ,unloving or incompetent

But I do not think we can make a real difference anymore to change the tide.

Those we expect to be concerned about Global Warming and behave towards slowing it down are doing the opposite

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

On a Global scale,Humanity is not co operative enough .

The poor regions have other priorities such as daily survival.

In the first world countries many do not care or are more interested in Global Control than Global Warming.

So i am afraid that we are NOT doing as well as we should by a long run

  6. I think you should delete this question, and go talk with your thesis adviser.  The simple fact that you asked about it so poorly makes me think you don't even know what your thesis is about, and to give you a good suggestion or critique, I would really need to know what your thesis is about.

Unless, do you really mean "thesis"?  If you mean "subject of my report" or "class research project", then that's totally different, but I would still need to know more than you've given.

I will give you some pointers though.

Be clear in what you mean.  Use the established terminology of the subject matter.  For example, "meaning of global warming" is an instant rejection.

Do not be vague, especially in your opening paragraph.  Get directly to the point of your thesis or report.  Say, "I am going to show ...".  And justify it, "... is important because ...."

Do not say things which cannot be supported.  Anything you say which is even questionable will be picked at and torn apart.  Do not say things like "man is causing global climate change", because it has not been scientifically proven, regardless of what Al Gore said, or you heard on CNN.

For example, "humans are determined to help solve the issue", violates two of the above rules.  It's rather vague and general, and it isn't necessarily true.  Worst of all, it doesn't even make sense.  Which humans are determined to help who solve which issue?

  7. it depends on what angle you are taking. from what you have written it looks like you are taking a sceptical stance so what about.

in the past X years there has been an increase in global temps of Y. without knowing what is causing warming this increase politicians are still willing to prevent further warming............

  8. I agree that the climate has always changed. However, most scientists agree that it is changing at an alarming rate now. This could be caused by greenhouse gases or could just be because it's come time for earth to change in order to maintain homeostasis. Without doubt, humans are having an effect on our planet's ecosystem. I suppose all anyone can do is write a hypothesis on what the potential causes may be. Most experts(which I am not) believe the temperature--and subsequently weather and sea level--is largely due to the burning of fossil fuels. I cannot choose a side, it seems like a normal course of nature; then again, it seems to be hapenning more rapidly than we, once again, hypothesized it has in the past. Scientist today measure the amounts of trace gases in the atmosphere, sea level, migration of birds, temperature, precipitation, fish migration, just tons of things to come up with their conclusions. Who am I to say they're right or wrong. I don't think it's as big a deal as it's being made. I do feel however, that we should focus time and money onto moving our economy from an oil-based on--something that will take many minds and some fantastic ideas. Other countries already have found alternatives to oil, using gasoline only for cold days to warm their engine. There are solutions, they're just difficult.
