2. All answers given by liz down under are correct & nearly as it is applicable in our country also. But I will like to answer one question (number 5).

After rabies infection you can donate the blood only in next incarnation, if there is any!!!. Rabies is a 100% fatal disease & all victims of this infection have to die within few days to weeks. And it is TRUE.

  3. hay check with a physician in blood bank while doing donation also, check the website of redcross

  4. 1) Yes potentially, thal. majors can be transfused every 2-3 weeks for life.

2). Depends why they have/had jaundice. If they are a hep B or C carrier then never again. If it was a bout of hep A then it should be OK when they are well again.

    3) Depends on the major surgery. If they are back to full health then there should be no problem.

    4) Around 55 kilogram.

    5) Don't know (Australia has never had rabies).

    6) No reason to wait.

    7) No reason to wait before eating.

    8) Lie down, put feet up, relax and have some fluids.

    9) Definately - don't want blood warming up too much (bugs can grow) or being frozen accidently (will cause blood to haemolyze).

    10) Straight away if you feel fine.

  5. wow, lots of really good questions!

I'll take a few and then hope you can find more...

    3. generally no, but it depends on the health of the person.

    10. should be able to work the next day.
