  1. Psychology is a big subject but mainly I think it's oversubscribed.

  2. As far as I know, there are no good counselors in chennai who would help u with what u want to study. There are bunch of ppl who give counseling on job opportunities. Well, I am not sure though. There might be.

    First, research a bit on the colleges which offer psychology. I think that there are few good colleges which offer psychology in chennai. a friend of mine was interested in pursuing and he said there are good courses in MCC in tambaram. First find out the colleges which offer psychology, then u can look into the course structure and the college reputation before getting into it.

    All the best.

  3. Hey! That's what I'm doing! Doing my HNC Social Care now and then I'm going to University to study Applied Social Sciences for 4 years and then I will either go in to one of the following fields: Psychology, Criminology or Psychiatry! I love working with people and helping them with their issues and problems.

    You could be a Psychologist and either go in to the Clinical sector:

    "Clinical psychologists aim to reduce psychological distress and enhance and promote psychological wellbeing. They often work in health and social care settings, as part of a multidisciplinary team. They use the methods and findings of psychology and psychological theories with clients to enable them to make positive changes in their lives.

    Clinical psychologists work with people of all ages who experience mental or physical health problems. These may include:

        * anxiety and depression;

        * serious and enduring mental illness;

        * adjustment to physical illness;

        * neurological disorders;

        * addictive behaviours;

        * eating disorders;

        * behaviour disorders;

        * personal and family relationship problems;

        * learning disabilities. "

    Or go in to the Counseling sector:

    "Students in this major learn how to provide psychological counseling to people one-on-one and in groups. Courses include such topics as patient/counselor relationships, group therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and marital and family therapy."

    You should do what I did, I researched on the internet and looked at University courses and decided which suited me!

    Best of luck!
