Can u.s. ps3 play dvd-rip pal files?

In U.S.A. its NTSC but when its a 700 mb avi file extracted from a pal dvd, does it matter if you play it on any ps3?

No, ripped DVD file has no NTSC or PLA limition. But I don't think PS3 player can play AVI video, you have to convert it to MP4 video, then you can put in on PS3 and play it. You may take a look at this guide, it will teach you how to convert DVD to MP4 video.

Ripping DVD I usually use E.M. Free DVD copy. because it lets me rip dvd easily, and it allows me rip DVD to other popular video formats such h264, Xvid, MOV, VOB, Mpeg, Mpeg4, Mpeg TS, AVI, WMV, and so on.

so I can watch dvd movies on portable player like iPod, iPhone etc. conveniently. it can divides dvd into different chapters, I can rip my I favorite ones. in addtion to, it can copy whole DVD to hard disc.
