Yes, you can.  They generally like you to send a carton, though.  They go through a pack pretty quickly.  The reason they tell you not to put it on the declarations page is that sometimes they have problems with the people running the mail dumps overseas breaking into packages and stealing valuables.  Tobacco products tend to be highly sought after.

I got cartons of smokes all the time when I was in Iraq.  That was in 03/04 though, unless laws have changed since then, yes you can.

They were even declared on the packing slip, no-one said a thing about it.

i sent my hubby cigs a couple of times techinacly i dont think your suposed to mail them I just didnt list them in the form to send them my husband told me that usualy cigs are cheaper their than at home any ways i just sent them when the store ran out

my sugestion is if you know who you are sendind them to then by all means send them but if you dont know who the soldier is and you are simply mailing a care package out to help suport the troops then i wouldnt mail cigs

Sending cigarettes overseas is not a problem as they have already been taxed in this country (and UK has the most expensive tax on tobacco in the world) so there will be no export duty.

Sending cigarettes to you from overseas is a different matter entirely and you are only allowed to be sent 50 at a time as a gift. Any more than that will get you a run in with the Revenue.

Why would you want to send cigs overseas, though? All soldiers in any location have access to cigarettes and tobacco at a far cheaper price than you will ever get them for in UK.

My hubby in Iraq can buy 200 for about a fiver.

Sure, you can send just about anything.  The only things that are banned are alcohol, pornography, and pork products, if you are sending the package to the Middle East.
