Can u send old computers in for scrap and get payed?

i have some older machines and i was wondering if there was somewhere that took these dinosaurs and gave u cash for the gold , silver ant what ever else they can salvage from them

  1. True, there are *TINY* gold platings in your old computer's components. However, the quantity of gold is so small, you'll only be getting about 50¢ worth. You might have some components with solid-gold pins, which have significantly more gold content, but these are extremely rare.

    There aren't any places that will pay you for old hardware. You might be able to find some collectors in your area, but that's about it. There's no value in old computers. They're like old cars.

    Instead of throwing them in the trash, look for computer recyclers in your area you can donate to. They will refurbish them, and provide them to schools and underprivileged families. Also, it keeps some pretty nasty chemicals out of the landfills, like the lead in solder.
