Can u settle a dispute plz?

Question

if i had twins, i'd have 2 children, am i correct?

if i had 2 twins, i'd have 4 children, am i correct?

My bf is driving me crazy by arguing that 2 twins means 2 kids, surely that is incorrect.

we have asked 6 dif people and 5 agree with me, however he is still adamant that 2 twins means 2 kids

someone please help before i throw myself out of the window lol :D

A twin is still an individual person, so two twins are two people. You should say a pair of twins when referring to both individual twins. Therefore your boyfriend is absolutely right and you are simply wording it wrongly.

hum. it depends. if someone were to ask me... how many kids do you have,, i would say a SET of twins for 2 twins. and if i had 4 kids that were identical, i would say i have two sets of twins.

but saying 2 twins... that could mean 2 kids. or a set of twins.

this is like asking someone... how many is some? how many is a few? and how many is a couple? how much is alot?  some to me is atleast 4. a few is two or three. a couple is atleast 2. and alot is 4 or more.

I think you are both partly right. You are correct in saying twins are 2 children and he is correct on the rest.

I have twin daughters and 3 sons. When speaking about  the twins, its two children. When I talk about all the children I refer to them as the two twins, meaning two not four. Two sets of twins would be 4.
