  1. Pandra is right that if you're put under general anesthesia, you are generally intubated, and that the tube will keep you from snoring.

However, people who are not deeply enough anaesthetized to paralyze their breathing sure do snore.  Very loudly, sometimes.  *g*

  2. No because when they put you under anesthesia, they also intubate you (put a tube down your throat) so they can control your rate of breathings and make sure your oxygen level is correct so you can't talk or snore.

  3. Yes, they are right, BUT don't confuse sedation for general anesthesia because it is very different. In conscious sedation, the patient can snore since he/she will not be intubated.

  4. The answer is YES, you can snore under anesthesia.

If we put in a breathing tube or an LMA, you won't.  (Those bypass the upper airway where snoring happens)  If we use a mask on your face, you probably will.  We have airway adjuvants to help alleviate upper airway obstruction (which is what snoring is):

    We put these in noses:

    and these in mouths:

to hold the soft tissue off the back of the throat.

In fact, you are more likely to snore under anesthesia than you are when you're just sleeping, because our drugs usually make your muscles weak, even if we don't paralyze you.

  5. Usually it is only the Anesthesiologist who snore during anesthesia when it is 2 boring

    Hahahahah

  6. You really need some education, anaesthesia disables most motoric functions including breathing.
