Can u still get arrested 4 shoplifting if they don't call the cops while you're there? they got all my info

The loss prevention guy got all my info and said he was going to the magistrates office to file charges there and they would serve me w/a summons or something, is this legal?it's been 2 days ago now and i (thankfully) have heard nothing yet. ( i was at kmart , with about $20 worth of stuff. pleez help.

In texas yes there was a lady two days ago arrested for stealing a 2.00 item! After the fact!

They have until the statute of limitations expires to file charges against you. Since you did not indicate where you are it is impossible to give you a specific limit, however 1 - 2 years is common for a case such as this.

WELL I AM A K MART LOSS PREVENTION officer.

and they got you with 20 dollars worth of stuff than it wasnt enough to prosecute. It had to be 20.01 to prosecute. And the information that he got was to send to the k mart lawyers that are going to send you a letter saying pay 250 in 20 days or set up a payment plan or else you will be charged and they will have a summons on you.

Just pay 50 bucks a month and u will be fine.
