Tinker is right , verison do offer the naked DSL but , the price is much higher , about $29   more , for that u can keep the landline and have a very cheap  calling plan for that price ..

No. DSL goes through the phone line.

Most carriers will provide naked DSL at a higher cost. They will also try to convice you to keep the phone line for emergency and E911.  The land line companies really try to keep their revenue by using the fear tactic.  I have had VOIP for over a year with no issues.  I will always have my cell as a backup.

Yes you can. But you will have to ask for the service since it is not advertised. It is sometimes called naked DSL. You have no dial tone or phone service, just DSL.
