    Apple sauce can be substituted for oil in recipes. It is usually in the same amount as the oil. It is used as a healthier alternative to oil. It does sometimes changer the texture a bit. When I use it in brownies, they are a bit fudgier than normal. I usually go half and half. That way you stll have that flavor with half the fat.
