Can u tame a free spirit?

is it possible to tame a free spirit who just cant seem to settle with anything inlife? my ex partner just couldnt settle down and just flits thru life using people for his own importance at that particular time and then just moves onto something else when he gets fed up. he just wasnt consistent in anything he ever did or wanted. will he ever change??
