Just wondering if people besides the ISP company can tell which IP belong to who? I mean the last 6 digits look random (ie: 67.187.x*x.x*x)

  1. ARIN assigns ip address', so there is nothing random about that address. Looking forward you can use nslookup on your ip address to resolve a name to that address. This will tell you what carrier it comes from. 67.x*x.x*x.x*x is a class A address. Typically what happens is people get a class A, B, or C address range from ARIN then apply VLSMs to the block. So you know that is comcast, try nslookup 67.187.0.0. As for telling a persons ip from the same carrier, you will not be able to do this. Lets say comcast purchased the 67.160.x.x/11 block (which they did) giving them an address range of 67.160.0.0 (network) to 67.191.255.255 (Bcast), giving you 2,097,150 possible host address'. Most of those are dynamically assigned, but some are statically given, either way if you try to nslookup, or whois query any of those address' it will say that the adress is owned by comcast.

  2. nah unless your looking at your router you can see the computers name and stuff.  but thats about it

  3. there's not any easy way to find an individual person. the last 6 digits can be somewhat random as many ISPs give out IP addresses dynamically and not an assigned IP.
