  1. Don`t leave the water running whilr brushing your teeth.Shower takes less water than bath.Put a brick or something else in tiolet tank. have plummer make a connection so water from sink will go into tiolet tank, wash clothes in cold water. Wash full load. make 1 cup of tea or coffee instead of full pot.

  2. water conservation is important because of the fires in georgia and malibu right now but it is also important because we drink it, bathe in it etc. A few ways to coserve water are to not use the dishwasher when it is half full, wait until it is full with dishes then use it.

  3. Basically it's saving water, not wasting it, using only what you need.

Plants and animals depend on water to supply us with food.

Plants also cleans the air and gives us oxygen.

  4. As far as average home goes, there are several ways to conserve water.

Install a low flow shower head, install one of the new toilets that use less water, install new low flow faucet heads on the sinks, etc.

    Here is a link on more ways;

Water the yard after sunset and do not mow the grass real short, set the mower for high cut. This will save on evaporation of water and thus less watering.

Limit shower time; have every thing ready to shower so you not running water when you are not showering, you will save electricity as well.

Do not have the washing machine set on large load when only a few things are to be washed.

Check for plumbing leaks, just a drippy faucet can add up to hundreds of gallons a year.

Also if its raining hard it’s a good time to wash the car.

You can install a cistern to catch the water run off from the roof of your home and garage to be used for the yard or washing the car. A filtration system can be installed to use the cistern water for other uses. But if you live in an area of high air pollution I would not use the water for drinking.

Oh and if you run the waste water from your sink, to the tolit tank, as one person suggested, it will make a mess in the tank over time and s***w up the ball assembly that makes it flush. Scum and debris can prevent the toilet valve from closing all the way and it will cause the toilet to keep running water through.

  5. Water conservation is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound way to reduce our demand for water. This stretches our supplies farther, and protects places like Mono Lake. For example, the city of Los Angeles has grown by 1 million people since the 1970s, but still uses the same amount of water. The entire U.S. uses less water than it did 25 years ago, even though there are more people!  Using less water also puts less pressure on our sewage treatment facilities, and uses less energy for water heating.

Saving water also saves energy. 6.5% of the energy used in the state of California is for pumping and treating water--in fact, pumping water south (and uphill) in the State Water Project accounts for 2-3% of all the electricity used in the state. And for your personal energy bill, using less hot water saves on water heating. On the flip side, saving energy and using alternative energy saves water--electricity production from fossil fuels and nuclear energy is responsible for 39% of all freshwater withdrawals in the nation.

  6. water conservation includes many aspects:

    - Conservation of water resources from pollution and salination.

    - Reduction of evaporation and leakage from water storage systems.

    - Efficient methods for use of water in agriculture, industry and home.

    - Recycling of Sewage water.
