Question:

Can u use a thermostat out of a 89 s10 blaver v6 and put it in a 89 cavalier 4cyl

my 89 cavaliers thermostat dont work no more. i have a new thermostat out of my old blazer and i was wondering if i could put that thermostat in my cavalier till i got a new one. by the way i live a half hour out of my town and my cavalier is my only ride to work

  1. It's August so leave it out and when you go into town buy a new one for the winter.  If you forget you wont have any heat so that will remind you if you live in a cold climate.  I've run many cars without a thermostat even in the winter so you wont hurt anything.


  2. I'd be wary of substituting the stat. Different engines operate at different temperatures and the stats are made to open and close accordingly.

    For the sake of a few bucks, I'd spring for the correct one for the Cav.

  4. listen man, some time they stick, and you think there out. try it. what could it hurt.iput one from a dodge dakota in to ford ranger. i hope you get to work.

  5. buy the correct thermostat they r cheap
