  1. no you have to chage it over to american money

  2. You might find a few tourist places along the border that accept both US & Canadian money, but as a general rule, only US money in the US.  You will have to change money at a money exchange place at the border (if crossing by car, e.g. the Peace Bridge into Buffalo, NY), or at the airport, or at some American Express Travel Services offices (e.g. Park Avenue, NYC just a few blocks north of Grand Central Terminal).

  3. Yes you can...I live in a border town on the Canadian side and alot of the border towns accept it at the stores...(MAINE) As the Canadian dollar is so high right now, the money is almost equal! Which is great for the consumers!

  4. No you can`t not even in the "northern" states I live in Michigan and we do not accept it as payment, just go to the nearest bank when you cross or land and convert the money over.

  5. There are certain places that are close to the border where you can use Canadian dollars (at a very high rate).  In order to avoid this, take your CDN$ and your passport to the nearest large bank.  They will convert for you, but only a small amount.

It would help to know where you are???

  6. At some stores you can, but they are not legally required to accept Canadian money. In the Northern states I would often find stores that accepted CAD. But here in the South, they don't even know what Canadian money is lol...they think it is Monopoly money.

The stores that do accept CAD will give you a horrible exchange rate, so I would not recommend it. Do yourself a favor and change your money to US dollars at the airport or at any bank/credit union.

  7. No you have to convert your money to U.S. dollars.  I'm not sure where you go to to do this though, sorry!
