Can u use infrared goggles at night?

Theres a video on youtube that shows how to make infrared goggles with just blue and red gel filters. Before i go and waste my time will this work at night or do i need a light source(daytime) for it to only work?

I don't see how you'll be able to see infrared heat by just using blue and red filters on (regular?) goggles.

well i don't know if you can use homemade infrared goggles at night. as for professional goggles (no offence) the moon is all the light you need.
