Yes NI is in the UK, but don't bring too many notes back with you. They are legal tender but some (usually smaller) shops don't recognise the design etc so don't want to take them... same with Scottish notes in England. Don't worry too much though, any bank (not exchange place.. just a ordinary bank)will usually just change them for you 1 for 1 as a goodwill gesture.
