  1. Yeah. just be prepared to be made fun off.

I see a Jerry Seinfeld joke in the making.

"What is up with people and having to bring umbrellas on a plane?" - LOL

  2. Yes, you can certainly bring an umbrella as part of your carry-on luggage (or in your checked bag as well, of course.) The only thing to remember is that it might be inspected at the security checkpoint, to make sure you're not hiding any concealed weapons inside it. You can read the official TSA standpoint on this here, if you want: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/p...

Because of this, you might want to keep it near the top of your bag -- or even take it out and put it in the security tray separately to make everyone's job easier.

Additionally, you can just carry it if you want: an umbrella is one of the things (like a coat or a cane) that doesn't count towards your two-piece carry-on luggage limit. For example, here's Northwest's official policy on that (most other airlines will say exactly the same thing): http://www.nwa.com/travel/luggage/carryo...

Hope that helps! Have a great trip.

  3. No you have to slam dunk them into the cabin

  4. Well as long as you don't want it open

  5. I believe so...
