Can unrifled slugs be fired in a Benelli M2 26" barrell shotgun safely, and with which chokes?

I wonder if the slugs would be safe with the interchangeable chokes.

  1. Yes, rifled slugs are designed to be shot through a smooth bore. Only Saboted slugs are designed to be fired through rifled barrels.

    You would certainly never want to fire a slug through a full choke.

    Don't forget what they say about slugs: They hurt on both ends. The recoil is brutal.

The best chokes for slugs is open and Improved Cylinder.  If you want longer range shots they do make rifled chokes too.  However I would suggest spending the extra few cents and getting rifled slugs.  Why?  Because if you want to use it for self defense too then you can fire a rifled slug and buck shot back to back without sacrificing accuracy or wear and tear on the choke rifling.  

    I know that is what a lot of peace officers use.  But with 18-20 inch barrels.  

    Personally I made a good shot on a wild boar using a Mossberg 870 pump shotgun and rifled slugs.  Dropped him like a sack of bricks at over 75 yards.
