  1. Component cables are only video cables, not audio. You should have separate output for video and audio from whatever you're coming from, unless it's a game console, where it all comes from one port.

Anyways...a cable marked with red, green and blue leads IS a component video cable. So, you're not really replacing anything. You should be able to work it without a problem. And your RCA audio cables (red and white) should work just fine with any TV less than 20 years old.

  2. Yea, that will work fine. I've done it several times. If you are running the cable more than 3 feet though, you will want to replace the cable with a thicker one eventually. You will want to buy video cables that are at least one eighth of an inch in diameter. And don't waste your money on Monster Cables. The cheaper varieties work just as well.

If your cable is 3 feet long or shorter, replacing it with a thicker one won't make a noticeable difference so don't worry about it.

  3. It will work but the quality will suffer a lot.

If this RGB cable is really a RGB cable, then it already is component and you'll have no problems.

  4. Technically yes. You can use audio cables for the component video connection. I have done that in a pinch. The quality will not be as good unless you are using crappy cables to start with.

All good video cables will be costructed using RG6 coaxial cable. Regular audio cables do not use this. They will transmit the signals but they will be much more susceptable to interference. You do not need expensive component cables, as long as they are made of RG6 you'll be just fine.

  5. yes, as long both electronics have component (RGB) inputs/outputs. Component (RGB) offers better quality video than composite (single yellow), s-video, and coaxial cables.

  6. IT WILL WORK!!!!!!   i have done this multiple times.     the constuction of the cables is exactly the same, the only difference is that they use a red plastic coating on some rca's, a blue on others, etc.
