Can used motor oil be turned into diesel?

I know about waste vegetable oil to biodiesel, but didn't know about motor oil.

  1. yes i have mixed it with diesel and it ran just fine, no smoke.

    it's likely to have other chemicals that are good for lubrication, but are not good coming out of the tailpipe.

  3. Nope.  Motor oil contains the carbon chains that are too long for diesel (which is something like D10 to D24)

    As I understand it is:

    C2-C4 are your natural gasses, acetylene, methane, propane

    C5-C8 is gasoline - benzene through octane

    C10-C24 is diesel

    bigger is lubrication oils

    even bigger is tars like asphalt

  4. used motor oil can be run through a "re-cracker" plant and turned into plastics with less cost and less pollution

  5. Waste motor oil can be mixed with diesel up to 20% providing a centifurgde is used to clean the oil.
