It's illegal to dispose of used motor oil in any way other than dropping it off with a permitted used oil collector.  Used oil has high levels of heavy metals that can make their way back into our bodies and harm more than just your weeds.

I imagine just about anything you pour oil all over will die, but that would be pretty environmentally irresponsible.  As people have said above, the oil will seep into the groundwater and contaminate drinking water.

Yes used oil will kill the weeds but there are friendlier products out there. Go to your local nursery to get the right stuff.
