Ok, so I have recently found out the celluar phones might cause brain cancer...Is it true? My father said that this is bs, and that the news likes to make a contreversy about everything, my mom and all my friends as well as classmates agree.

I am a 13 year old girl and i have had a cellphone for about 1 year, and i use it a lot , like A LOT, 2 hours a day, and i sleep with it on near my head (nightstand), I have read on the internet that this is bad too, i never knew. Now i do not use my phone as often as other girls but enough to make me worry, i am totally willling to not use it anymore, i just want to know is it too late? I mean on the right side of my head i get weird headache pains for a few seconds but those go on the left side as well as the rest of my body, my doc. said its just growing pains.

also , my parents saw on CNN that cellphones do not cause cancer... is THAT true? i am confused as to what i should do..

so:

1. might i have cancer, and is my risk higher?

2. if i stop now can my risk go down?

3.what about all the others who use their phone waaaaaaaay more?

4.i talk on it sometimes while its charging..is that bad?

5. does it cause cancer

and 6. DO YOU HAV ANY TIPS??

(i live in canada, if that may affect anything, i have a samsung)

thanks a lot,i know i probably wont have cancer, and there is no history at all in my family, but just answer these please i really appreciate it thanks a lot!!!

( so if cell phones are bad, what about computer ad ipods and stuff i use those A LOT too....so i guess everything these days give you cancer...)

  1. you know how cell phones are wireless? and you know those cell phone towers? well they send out like sound waves to the phones when you make a call. i forget what they're called. but crazy conspirators are saying that those waves cause cancer cells to form. but i think youre safe, because the waves would need to be going through you all day, everyday for like 20 years for cancer cells to form. no, its not true. maybe those waves may KIND of hurt you, but def. not in the short run. talking while youre phones charging is fine. just keep going to the doctor for regular checkups, eat healthy, and get 30 mins. of exercise a day and youll be fine.

  2. The fact is we do not know what causes cancer if we knew than we could cure it. We are aware of several things that can increase your risk for cancer, but that doesn’t mean you will ever get cancer. Smoking is something that can increase your risk for lung cancer, but there are many people who have smoked all their lives and do not get lung cancer. There are also people who never smoked a single cigarette in the life and get lung cancer.

We do know cancer usually takes years to develop and cell phones have not been used long enough for a definitive study to be done.

This recent thing with cell phones started about a month ago when a doctor from a prominent cancer institute said he believed cell phones may increase people’s risk for cancer. I heard the story on at least 3 radio stations and 2 TV stations that day and not a single one reported cell phones cause brain cancer.

Stories like this get blown out of proportion because people do not pay attention, they do not listen and they include their own thoughts and beliefs into things and accept them as fact and repeat them as fact when they are not.

I have included a link to CNN’s website so you can read the story and watch the video yourself and so you know exactly what was said and not have to listen to rumors.
