  1. yes...duh. theres no animal product in beer

  2. don't believe all the people that are saying "duh". some alcohol [wine] is NOT vegan, due to the fact that it contains gelatin, which is made from animal bones. NOT vegan. check this out for a list of approved wines

  3. last i checked beer harms no animals or hav meat in thme so yes

  4. DUH!

  5. yes but some alcohol is vegan and some are not. it usually has more to do with the process of making it then what is put into it.

  6. If they are not hypocrites then no, they can't...

Alcohol, fermentation, is a process which involves the life cycle and ultimate death of living creatures...

They can't eat honey even though bees are not harmed in the making and collection of honey...

So if you are truly, totally Vegan... That means that you can't have alcohol because not only is a creature being exploited... The exploitation ends in the death of the creature...

  7. Yes unless you have a cocktail with egg or something in it, but you can get fruit daquiris and what not

  8. In general, yes.  But there are some beers, wines and spirits that are not vegan.  Some beers are fined with isinglass, which is from the swim bladder of a fish, some wines are fined with gelatin or blood products.  Spirits like Bailey's aren't vegan (cream.)

There are plenty of vegan-friendly alcohols, though.  Here's some more specific info: http://www.tastebetter.com/features/booz...

As far as the person who said vegans who drink would be hypocrites because of the living creatures it's made with, pay her no mind.  Yeast is not an animal, it's a fungus, like mushrooms.  Vegans eat fungi because, unlike animals, they have no capacity for pain.

  9. As long as it does not contain white sugar, it shouldn't be a problem.  Alcohol is made from fermented yeast, which is a plant, so most likely there shouldn't be any animal products in it.

  10. yes vegans beer

  11. As long as it was not made by / has no animal products in it

  12. I agree that people should check their facts before  suggesting that  a perfectly reasonable question is stupid.

Alcoholic drinks may be fined/filtered using any of the following, all of which are unsuitable for vegans and most of which are unsuitable for vegetarians:

Gelatine - from bones and connective tissues of cows or pigs

Isinglass - obtained from fish swim bladders

Chitin - derived from the shells of crabs or lobster

    Casein - obtained from milk

    Albumin - from egg whites

Ox blood - (banned in Europe due to BSE)

    There are vegan alternatives.

This great site gives long lists of beers, wines, spirits, liquers and mixers and tells you which are vegetarian and which vegan:

  13. I would think so, unless they're drinking mad dog.

  14. yes day can

  15. uh yes, they dont kill an animal to make it....

  16. Yes, alcohol for now is VERY trendy too.

  17. carrot champagne

  18. I am curious to know why you're asking this? Of course they can, I can't imagine there are animal products in alcohol

  19. For the most part you should be safe. I know Guinness has fish product in it though.

  20. sure can

  21. only root beer

  22. Most alchohol is made from fruit, grain, or in some cases, starchy vegetables.   I don't know why any of that would bother a vegan.

  23. Yeah... What kind of booze are you drinking that has animal products in it?

  24. yeah.

unless theres an animal in it :P

  25. not vodka with the worm at the bottom :)

  26. as long as the alcohol has no animal products.

  27. Alcohol, Beer, Ale, and Wines are made with Fish glue, Pepsin, Peptone, Lactic acid, Lactose, Glycerin, Gelatin, Egg white, Albumin, Isinglass lactic acid, and / or malo-lactic bacteria.

Some years ago The Center for Science in the Public Interest compiled a list of well over a hundred additives permissible in various alcoholic beverages. These ingredients were not required to be declared on the label. Strictly from a vegetarian standpoint, some are obviously animal, some are suspect, and some can be made either from animal or other sources. These additives include fish glue, pepsin (stomach extract), peptone (product of pepsin acting on albumin), lactic acid, lactose, glycerin, and gelatine for beer and/or ale. Wines fare no better, with gelatine, egg white or albumin from egg white, isinglass (sturgeon's bladder), lactic acid, and Malo-lactic bacteria.

The other additives include ingredients such as enzymes to convert starch into sugar; clarifying, chill-proofing, foam stabilizing and anti-gushing agents; antioxidant; anti-microbial preservative; artificial colors; plus of course natural and artificial flavors. Who needs them? Finally, Alcohol results in the death of innumerable Jivas but being intoxicating, it also destroys the power of discrimination, creates delusion in wisdom, harms health and can bring about an end to family happiness and tranquility.

  28. I can't believe how many people are giving answers like "Duh".  This is a very valid question.  Most alcohol is vegan, yes.  What makes it tricky is that alcohol is not required to be labeled with nutrition information and ingredients like other food and drinks.

Most hard liquors are vegan, creamy liquors like Baileys, White Godiva, etc are not vegan.

German beers are known to be vegan because they have strict guidelines that they can only use 4 ingredients.  Some beers are made with honey.

Then it also matters how far you want to take it.  Wines themselves may have vegan ingredients, but the way in which they are filtered can include animal products.  If you click on this link below, they explain much more in depth.  There is also a book "Animal Ingredients A To Z" which has a chapter on alcohol.  It's also a great little guide to have in general to check all those questionable ingredients.

  29. Yes.

If not, then I'm not a vegan.

  30. most alcohol is made from sugar, beer is made from yeast  and grains so... i don't see why not

  31. yes everyday if they want
