  1. Chocolate is a dairy product?  No, it's not.  Chocolate is from the cacao plant.  Some manufacturers ADD milk to their chocolate, but it's not a dairy product, it's a plant product.

Some vegetarians eat dairy and some don't.  The ones who do can have milk chocolate, the ones who don't can have chocolate made without milk (including most high-quality dark chocolate and also "milk" chocolate made with rice or nut milk instead of dairy milk.)

Likewise, vegans can have milk-free chocolate.  I have a lovely dark chocolate bar with dried cherries in my kitchen right now.

  2. they must make vegan chocolate because i have vegan ice creamthat has a chocolate coating on the outside.

milk chocolate is not vegan but i think dark chocolate it because its mostly cocoa

  3. Well, vegetarians are allowed to eat chocolate but I know there are other options for vegans.

Here's a website that has a variety of different vegan chocolates and other vegan products:

    http://www.veganstore.com/food-items/cho...

  4. chocolates i know is ok but if u mean you don't wanna gain weight just get dark chocolate and another thing tofu and sushi is another option it's very healthy!!!!!!!

  5. vegetarians yes chocolate contains no animal products

vegans no but you can probably get soy milk chocolate

  6. There are plenty of vegan chocolates around,

Green and Blacks are the most popular but there are others - try your local health food shop.

There is even a vegan white chocolate !

Veggies cannot automatically assume they can eat chocolate, they need to check the ingredience or look for "suitable for veggies" labels.

Comments like "there's no meat in chocolate" or "veggies can eat any chocolate" are not accurate.

There are plenty of brands that use whey powder from animal rennet or gelatine. Manufacturers would also be helpful and tell you - I've got Nestle, Cadbury's and Mars lists.

  7. You can make your own chocolate. Or you can go to this website and buy some!

  8. Honestly its up to the individual and their own feelings on the issues but as a VERY wide view, vegitarians wont eat meet, most of them will eat dairy products, (eggs, milk, cream, cheese, etc) where as vegans typically don't eat anything that came from an animal, meat or fluids.

However like i said before its up to the individual as to how they feel.

If you're throwing a party for example and you know you have vegan and/or vegetarian friends try offering choices for both like chocolate covered strawberries and for those who dont like dairy try something like strawberries with a mixberry glaze on the side kidna like a dipping sauce.

As far as different options for chocolate go, some stores actually offer chocolate made with potato milk, it sounds weird but its not half bad. You could also try nut paste, almond or pecans specially are quiet tastey.

Another thing you might want to consider, some vegans eat raw, that means they prefer to eat things that are not or are mimally cooked.

Lastly try finding out if they have an adverse opinion to soy milk or rice milk. As these are not made of animal byproducts most will have them. And in this day and age you can find dairy free chocolate made with soy milk, rice milk chocolate is common in health food stores or specialty markets, and they both are in my opinion more delicious then real chocolate.

Whatever you do, use real cocoa chocolate and not chocolate made with the fake stuff, if it doesnt say chocolate or cocoa on the ingredients, it aint chocolate.

  9. vegetarians-yes

    vegans-no

  10. lacto ovo vegetarians- yes

ovo vegetarians-no (but if the milk is replaced with soy milk, yes)

vegans-no (but if the milk is replaced with soy milk, yes)

  11. Correction:

MILK chocolate is a dairy product. There are Vegan friendly chocolates, but vegans cannot eat all chocolate by any means.

Vegetarians are ok, there's no meat in chocolate

  12. vegetarians can eat any chocolate, unless it's some crazy type I've never heard of that contains gelatin.

vegans can eat dairy-free chocolate which is very easy to get. A lot of dark chocolate is vegan, and there are some brands of soy milk chocolate or rice milk chocolate.

  13. Pure Chocolate made by cocoa.

Explore for the vegan-chocolates in the market.

  14. Vegetarians eat Chocolates but Vegans don't.
