  1. Not if they have a conscience.

  2. it depends if you want to. it doesn't matter.  either way is fine

  3. yes you can wear wool... a sheep would die if it wasn't sheared regularly, it's not cruel to make wool out of the shearings

  4. nope, same reason they don't eat any dairy products, just because the animal doesn't die, doesn't mean they will use it.

But if YOU want to wear wool, then there's no reason you can't. If you don't see it as wrong, that's what matters.

  5. The vegans think that we are "exploiting" them.

What about the northern people who would pick up shed Yak wool?  Would that be permissable?

  6. No, they do not. No animal bi products but use your judgement. If you know that that sheep is not being hurt for a fact and looks happy go ahead. But if that sheep is accidently cut or when its too old thrown in the slaughterhouse to become food then I wouldnt suggest paying for that wool. Try not to support cruelty the best you can!

@Neda It does hurt getting milk from a cow. Do some research and you'll understand because those cows are impregnated all the time and are constantly being sucked dry. They have sores and everything on their utters from being drained all day.

  7. most vegans dont wear wool b/c of the conditions the sheep are kept in. others only wear wool if the sheep were raised organicly. and to the people saying it doesnt hurt the sheep to get sheard, most of them it does. since sheep raised for wool are born and live their whole life indoors with no natural light or room to run, most have deseases for their whole life and are mis treated. same with cows and milk. mother cows are seperated from their calves so the calves dont drink the mothers milk. the calves are fed chemicals to make them grow faster than nature intended and the mother cows are often beat b/c they miss their calf and wont stop moaning. and most dairy cows live for less then half their normal life span b/c they are in such cruel conditions. the only time a factory raised cow will ever be outside is when it is being carried from the milk factory to the slaughter house. then, the cow will be held upside down for long torturing hours repeatedly having their throught slit multiple times, and eventualy bleading to death wiht no pain killers. that is why vegans dont eat meat, or drink milk, or wear leather or wool. :(

  8. "they are just sheering sheep and not acctually killing them for wool."

Vegan people don't drink milk or eat eggs either. You don't have to kill a cow or chicken for those things.

A vegan person may wear a wool item from before they became vegan but definitely wouldn't buy something that they could find out was made of wool.

  9. vegans cannot, vegetarians can. if vegans could wear wool, then they could also drink milk and eat eggs etc. because to get milk and eggs you dont kill the animals, you just take those things.

  10. they probably don't care about there clothes but i think you should be able to

  11. No, they don't wear wool. The process of shearing the wool can be very painful and hurts the sheep. Also, how would you like it if every time you grew out your hair that kept you nice and warm, someone came and cut it all off?

  12. Every vegan is different. Some are vegans for health reasons (health benefits of a vegetable diet) so have no problem wearing leather or wool.  Some are vegans for ethical reasons so would shudder at the thought of wearing leather, but may or may not wear wool, or only purchase from sources guaranteed to treat their animals in certain ways.  Others may be for environmental reasons, and either refuse any animal products at all to lessen the demand for such products and thus the impact on the environment, or, again, limit their consumption to sources that adhere to their ideals.

So, the question would be, why do YOU want to go vegan? Then, based on that reasoning, decide for yourself.

  13. Sweetie, if you want to wear wool, call yourself a strict vegetarian. Vegan's don't believe in using any animal byproducts, although my vegan friend has no problem filling her gas tank up with dead dinosaur juice (gas).

  14. Yes, it's fine, like you said, they're only shearing

  15. Hmm...It depends on your beliefs.

    I agree with you!

It would be better if you know where you are buying wool from. This way you know the animals are not being abused.

  16. blah blah.   blah blha blah blha blah.  blah blah.  Wear what you want to.  It is animal hair.  Is animal hair unnatural?  Please me a pork chop, please.

  17. no they cant wear wool or leather because it is an animal by-product. some do though but they are hypocrites.

  18. hiya i am a vegetarian milk wool  ect is ok as the animal has not been slaughtered for products but from a vegan point its a definite no vegans say no to any animal products including honey leather wool if u go to the vegan society website u can buy a cruelty free shopper and get free info also the vegetarian society web site is good x

  19. Why not?..

  20. I doubt they do. It doesn't hurt a cow to take it's milk, but vegans don't drink it.

  21. If you want to be an evil one :(

  22. Nope. No animal products.

  23. nope, check the link

  24. Depends on why they are a vegan.  Some people are vegan for health reasons so wearing wool or leather is not an issue.

  25. Some vegans do wear wool, but most that I know do not.

Animals used for the wool industry are treated the same as all other farm animals- as commodities to be exploited.  all industries which use animals will invariably abuse them. Whether tht be castration without anaesthetic (practised by the majority, if not all, wool farms), "de-horning" with a knife or heated plates, tail docking (again without anaesthetic) or simply not treating the animals for preventable diseases, such as Flystrike, in which the animal is literally eaten alive by maggots. And then there's the production-line way in which shearing occurs, invariably cutting many animals because it is done as quicly as possible.

And of course, we don't need wool.  There are plenty of alternatives, adn if we can be perfectly happy without exploiting animals, why should we?

Of course, it's up to the individual, but that's what vegans I know (myself included) believe.

  26. Well, wear wool then if you want too.

  27. no reason why not

  28. No animal products. Period!

  29. No. They are against doing ANYTHING un-naturual to the animal, therefor,e sheering the sheep is un-natural and the wool that comes off them was un-natural so they cannot wear it because it is un-natural!

  30. they are because it is made from sheep and the conditions at which the sheep are kept are probably not the best.

and on the contrary milking cows does hurt because those dairy cows are given hormones to overproduce milk (just replying to the person that said it didn't hurt them to be milked.)
