  1. well idk like the technical answer but even if it's fertilized or not fertilized, it seems like it still could have made it's way into a chicken. and even though they're not fertilized it still could have been fertilized so instead of making it into a chicken they decided to make it into an edible egg. hopefully that makes sense lol.

  2. I have read ghandi's autobiography,he has not eaten egg and mentioned egg with meat quite afew toimes when talking about unvegitarian food,so according to him egg is not a vegitarian food.

  3. yes, u can unless u r a vegan

  4. Ovo-vegetarians and lacto-ovo-vegetarians eat eggs.

    Strict vegetarians do not.

None of the eggs sold at supermarkets are fertilized so they will never become chickens.

If you are trying not to contribute to animal suffering, I would recommend that you try to keep the eggs to a minimum.

  5. vegetarians can, vegans can't

  6. You can use morning star egg beaters. It's just egg white. Not the yolk which is really the 'meat' of the egg. They taste great too!

  7. true, it is unfertilized eggs (well one time my friend found what appeared to be part of a chicken, but that's like a 1 in 10 billion chance of that happening)

Some vegetarians oppose the fact that

    1. its the fetus of an animal, so the fact that we are eating an unborn chicken that wasn't even given the chance to become chicken is disgusting and wrong.

    2. Caged eggs are cruel. A chicken is shoved into a cage about the size of an A4 page, and sometimes more than one chicken is shoved into that space. Even in free range varieties, chickens can be de-beaked and killed horribly. The only difference is that they had access to the outside world before being killed.

    3. Male chicks are useless to the egg industry so they are killed by being gassed or stomped on etc.

    4. The chickens that lay the eggs are going to end up at a slaughterhouse. If you consume eggs then you are supporting the egg industry, which kills chickens for meat. Therefore it could be said that you are supporting the meat industry

It's up to you, if you want to eat eggs, then I suggest you go for the free range variety

  8. Yes you can eat eggs unless you're vegan.

& no animal ever grows in it! (:

  9. I think it's just a personal choice, if you want the egg then eat the egg, if not then don't, i know my friend's sister in law is vegan and refuses to eat anything that is even made with eggs, this includes cake, brownies, etc. but in my opinion, the egg is not fertilized yet, so it's not like eating a chicken, but you have to make that decision yourself, do you feel bad about eating them, or do you feel ok about it!

  10. ("Ovo-lacto") vegetarians eat eggs. Lacto-vegetarians and vegans do not.

  11. Unfertilized eggs are not meat, since they can never develop into a chicken. ovo-vegetarians eat eggs. If your worried about how the hens are treated get your eggs locally where you can see how they are treated. You can even keep 3 or 4 hens yourself.

  12. right. there is no developing chicken, therefore nothing dies. vegetarians can eat eggs. however, vegans don't eat any animal product, so eggs are out.

  13. I think if it's caged free type of eggs, I think that would be okay since it has no harmones in it.

  14. well it depends what kind of vegeterian you are

    different kinda have different opinoins

but i think u can since 'eggs' dont ussually have the animal growing

but to be sure u could just google it

  15. yeah, it's called an ovo-vegetarian.  And no, the egg had no intentions of becoming a chicken.

  16. yup.

you're not a vegan. go for it.

  17. If you don't consume egg and milk.

You need to take foods fortified with vitamin  B12 or B12 suplements.

  18. vegans are the ones that dont eat eggs, vegetarians can though. they are unfertilized, and will never have any chance of hatching a chick. if your mom is a veg for animal rights, then i can totally understand y she wouldnt support the egg industry b/c of the way the egg laying hens are crammed into tiny cages and never see the light of day. male chicks are bashed into the ground and killed because they arent good for eating and cannot lay eggs...

  19. The protein in eggs belongs to the animal group. Eggs are not vegetarian diet.

Vegetarianism depends on the concept of protein source and the way it ia assimilated / broken down in your digestive system.

There is no connection to life giving / propagating capabilities and Vegetarianism.

    Planta have life too !!

  20. Yes, but they are not a true vegan. Eggs are a by product of animal.
