Can vegetarians use chicken broth in their cooking ?

  1. Why is this bothering you?  Are you a vegetarian, and aren't sure if a chicken is an animal or a vegetable??


  2. Generally speaking, no. If you're cooking for a vegetarian, you should use vegetable broth. There are some really good ones out there.  

  3. Chicken broth is made of dead chickens.

    Vegetarians do not eat OR drink animals.

  5. Well technically vegetarians can eat ANYTHING, but true blue vegetarians like myself don't use chicken broth/stock. I usually use a vegetable boulion instead. If you are a vegetarian for just health reasons then you might use chicken broth once in a while, but since I am a vegetarian for the sake of the animals, I do not use anything that has harmed an animal.

  6. I would use the vegetable booth, it's better that way. It's still from a chicken. Think of it that way.

  7. I guess it depends on how much a of vegetarian the vegetarian is :)

    A vegan would most probably not. Some vegetarians eat eggs and fish. If you eat eggs or ANYTHING else that is not considered vegetarian, then I don't see anything wrong with using chicken broth.

  11. Vegetarians CAN use whatever they want when they cook, including chicken stock.

    However, they would no longer be vegetarian if they used it or ate it purposely.  

    Chicken Stock comes from boiled down chicken meat.  Vegetarians do not eat chicken.  

  12. No.  If they do they are not a vegetarian.  I don't know how that could confuse you.  It's pretty much a no-brainer.  Meat is meat even if it's meat juice.
